More about Nicky's art...

Nicky Decorte-Markerink is an accomplished part-time photographer located in the province of Ontario in Canada. She started her career as a photo-journalist in her birth country The Netherlands in the early eighties. Check out her website and this page if you are interested in seeing her photowork. Drawing and painting has always been a favourite hobby. She is self-taught and happily doodles away whenever she gets inspired. She started becoming interested in Konik horses in the early 2000s. Koniks are a breed of originally Polish undomesticated horses that roam many national parks in The Netherlands and other countries. They live in small family groups and although there is some human intervention to manage the herds, they are basically left alone. The public is allowed to enter many of the areas but they are encouraged to watch from a respectful distance. Which is not always easy when the horses become curious about visitors as you can see in this photograph...
